Pakistan on August 24 claimed that approximately 70 Indian troops had attacked a military post north of Kargil, in the Gultari section near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on August 22. According to media reports, Major General Rashid Qureshi, spokesperson of the military regime, during a press conference in Islamabad termed the use of Indian force in the attack as "highly escalatory" and accused India of using air power after Pakistani troops had killed several Indian soldiers in retaliation. Pakistan army suffered no damage, added Qureshi. The acting Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad was reportedly summoned and a complaint was lodged by Pakistan over the unprovoked attack on its post.
