Tripurainfo reports that in a militant leader and second-in-command of Biswamohan faction of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT-BM), Panther Debbarma alias Pandit surrendered before Police along with his wife and an associate at Kanchanpur under North Tripura District on March 13. They escaped from the NLFT s hideout and a base camp in Jupui area of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) in Bangladesh and entered into Indian territory on March 11, through Bhandarima border of North District. On March 13 morning, they surrendered before Sub Divisonal Police Officer (SDPO) of Kanchanpur, Ashish Debnath at Anandabazar area of the District without any arms. During interrogation Panther revealed that after joining in NLFT group a decade ago he had under gone arms training imparted by NLFT. He took part in kidnapping of civilian both from Tripura and Mizoram and other insurgency related crimes. Due to financial crisis in the camp and internal conflict among leadership over the command and control of extremist outfit, they became frustrated and decided to surrender and fled away from the NLFT s base camp in Bangladesh.
