A group of about 40 Maoists came to the village late in the night and asked villager Prabhakar Madkami to come out of the house and then shot him dead. Before leaving the village, the Maoists threatened villagers of dire consequences if they informed the Police about the incident. Police said a poster left near the body claimed that Madkami was killed as he was passing on information about the Maoists to the Police and Border Security Force (BSF).
