News reports said the slain civilian had, in the past, aided security forces (SFs) in counter-insurgency operations. He had been attacked by terrorists in December 2000, but had escaped then. In the same district, a second civilian, reportedly the brother of a counter-insurgent, was killed by unidentified terrorists in Hangalbuji. In Budgam district, an SF personnel returning after a holiday was attacked and killed by unidentified terrorists in Gagarpora. Another civilian sustained injuries in the attack.
