The high number of casualties was caused by hurling of grenades and indiscriminate targeted firing by the terrorists, reportedly numbering between six to eight. According to latest reports, two of the terrorists blew themselves up while two others were shot dead in an exchange of fire with the Security Forces (SFs). Exhaustive combing of the densely-populated locality was also being carried out by the SFs to flush out the other terrorists, who reportedly managed to escape from the spot and took refuge in the vicinity.
